Lake Tawakoni State Park Camping and Cleanup

The total cost per person is a maximum of $30.  Of that, $20 is paid to Adventures Countering Litter, and $10 is paid to the state park upon arrival.

The state park charges two different fees.  One is for the camp site reservations. This has been paid by Adventures Countering Litter. Secondly, they charge a day use fee of $5 per day.  They count the weekend as 2 days, so you will have to pay them $10 per adult on entering the park.  Children 12 and under are free.  Everyone in your vehicle is free if you have a state parks pass.

This is a great event to learn the basics of camping.

All participants will be expected to help out with setup, cooking, cleanup, etc, to help camp run smoothly and ensure there is plenty of time for all of the activities.

After your reservation is confirmed, we will contact you with information about how to get to our specific campsites in the park.

No. You must get yourself to Lake Tawakoni State Park on Friday afternoon.

No problem! During the spillway event, you can pick up trash the whole time.  This is a great way to spend the event.  You will maximize the environmental benefit and be eligible for cool prizes.

I feel you, but no. This is a voluntourism event and you have to participate in the cleanup activities.

That depends. You must have a valid Texas fishing license with a freshwater endorsement in order to fish at the spillway during the spillway portion of the event.  However, when we are in the state park around camp, you can fish without a license.  It is legal to fish from shore without a license inside a Texas state park.

No.  We can provide fishing gear to borrow IF you let us know in advance. This is a great opportunity to learn to fish.  We will also have several kinds of bait available to all participants, including those who use their own gear.

If you have one you have used before, please bring it.  We can provide a tent for you IF you let us know in advance. 

No.  We will provide trash bags and will have trash grabbers available to borrow.  It is a good idea to bring your own work gloves.

There is a maximum of 2 vehicles allowed at each camp site.  Since a site may be shared by two family units in two tents, please only bring one vehicle per family unit.  If you need two vehicles fofr some reason, please let us know in advance.

Many kinds.  White bass, Crappie, common carp, freshwater drum, and several species of catfish are common here, but there are others, too.

The event will take place rain or shine.  Come dressed appropriately for the weather.  In the event of severe weather, we will cancel or postpone and reach out to you at the contact information provided on your registration.
