We desire to continue our cleanup efforts in urban creeks and ponds. These sites are great for local anglers because of their ease of access without travel, yet they suffer from a steady flow of litter swept in from the streets by rainwater.
We will organize multiple float trips each year to enjoy beautiful scenery, to fish, and to clean the rivers.
Clean up 50 miles of roadway over several days, pulling your camping gear and trashcans on a trailer behind your bike??? Oh, yes we will.
Project Aware already exists to give scuba divers training and opportunities to pick up litter from under the surface. What an idea for an ultimate Adventure Countering Litter! Events in this category will hopefully be coming soon.
As you may have seen in some YouTube videos and social media posts, we find a lot of styrofoam on the roads and in the creeks. This gets quickly weathered down into thousands of small foam balls that are impossible to recover from the creek. We'd like to hold a few styrofoam collection drives (maybe around Christmas when people open lots of new electronics), and take the styrofoam for proper recycling. Though styrofoam is recyclable, it is generally not accepted in community single-stream recycling programs.
Want to kayak, canoe, bike, or hike your way to places that need cleanup efforts? We hope to partner with volunteers and training agencies to equip you to do it safely and effectively.
Multi-day kayak trips with camping on the river banks, possibly with support raising in the style of Team in Training. Ideas still in development...
